Daini Sanmi - Daini Sanmi

Date of birth and death unknown. A female poet of the mid-Heian period. Daughter of Fujiwara Nobutaka, her mother was Murasaki Shikibu. Her real name was Kenko. She was also called Echigo no Ben and Tosanmi. She served Jotomon'in Shoshi, and after having romantic relationships with Fujiwara Yorimune and Sadayori, she married Fujiwara Kanetaka and became the wet nurse of Emperor Goreizei. Later, she married Togu no Gon no Daishin Takashina Nariaki, and was promoted to Jusanmi Tenji when the emperor ascended to the throne. He wrote poems at the "Daiuri Utaawase" poetry contest in 1049 (Eisho 4) and the "Yushishinnouke Utaawase" poetry contest in 1050, and his family anthology "Daini Sanmishu" is one of his famous poems. He is known for his moderate and elegant style of poetry, such as "In the bamboo grass plains of Ina, Mt. Arima, the wind blows, I forget who I am" (Koi 2, "Goshuishu", Ogura Hyakunin Isshu).

生没年不詳。平安中期の女流歌人。藤原宣孝(のぶたか)の娘で、母は紫式部。本名は賢子。越後弁(えちごのべん)、藤三位(とうさんみ)ともよばれた。上東門院彰子(じょうとうもんいんしょうし)に仕え、藤原頼宗(よりむね)・同定頼(さだより)らとの恋愛を経て藤原兼隆(かねたか)と結婚、後冷泉(ごれいぜい)天皇の乳母(うば)となったが、のち東宮権大進高階成章(とうぐうのごんのだいしんたかしなのなりあき)に嫁し、天皇の即位とともに従三位典侍(じゅさんみてんじ)に昇った。1049年(永承4)「内裏歌合(だいりうたあわせ)」、1050年「祐子内親王家(ゆうしないしんのうけ)歌合」などに出詠、家集に『大弐三位集』がある。穏健典雅な歌風で、「有馬(ありま)山猪名(ゐな)の笹原(ささはら)風吹けばいでそよ人を忘れやはする」(『後拾遺(ごしゅうい)集』恋二、小倉(おぐら)百人一首)などが有名である。
