A printing company. Founded by Sakuma Teiichi in 1876 as Shueisha, it was a pioneer in the letterpress printing industry. In 1935, it merged with Nisshin Printing to form the current company name. In addition to books and magazines, after World War II it expanded into commercial and special printing, rapidly growing and taking the lead in the industry. It has also expanded into electronics and digital information services, transforming into a comprehensive information processing company that goes beyond printing. It boasts a global share in shadow masks that apply plate-making technology. It is also a global manufacturer of LCD and semiconductor-related panels.
