A collection of documents handed down to Daigoji Temple, the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City. The sacred texts and ancient documents total about 800 boxes and 100,000 items. Sorting and research began in 1910, and the documents are stored in a newly constructed repository. The documents include those handed down by temple leaders and inn families, including Sanbo-in Temple, and those related to the head priests of Shinomura Hachiman Shrine and Takakura Tenjin Shrine. They include documents related to the temple affairs and economy of the main temple of Daigoji Temple, such as the head priest, various events, and temple land, and documents related to the succession of the head priest position and land control of the inn families. Sorting and research is ongoing, and the documents are published as the "Daigoji Documents" in the "Dai Nippon Komonjo". Currently, paintings, calligraphy, and classics are stored in the northern storehouse of Daigoji Temple, and sacred texts and ancient documents are stored in the southern storehouse. → Related items Donation book Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
