Invenzione - Invention

...That is, it is a painting with a history or story in Italian. Also, the selection of such a theme and the accurate composition of it through imagination is called invenzione (Italian). This view of history painting was supported by many art theorists and critics, including LB Alberti, from the 15th century onwards, and history painting was popular in the humanistic environment of the Renaissance (Fouquet, Mantegna, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Altdorfer).
