Kiska [island] - Kiska
An island in the western part of the Aleut Islands in the state of Alaska, USA. Kiska Volcano (1,218m) is located at the northern tip, and Little Kiska Island is located near the eastern coast. It is located on the border between the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea, and is of great military value. It is 32km long and 3.2-11.2km wide. During World War II, the Japanese army occupied it along with Attu Island in 1942, but withdrew in August of the following year after a counterattack by the US army.
