Abbreviation for premature ejaculation, it refers to ejaculation before a woman reaches orgasm during sexual intercourse. It is the most common sexual dysfunction in men, but the time it takes to ejaculate and the time it takes for a sexual partner to reach orgasm vary, and even the same person may have a longer or shorter orgasm than the other, making it difficult to give a clear definition. In general, premature ejaculation is when a man is unable to maintain vaginal insertion for a sufficient period of time to satisfy his sexual partner and ejaculates.

Most cases of premature ejaculation are psychological and psychological in origin, and can be considered to be cured naturally with repeated sexual experience. It is necessary to be careful because it may progress to secondary impotence due to loss of confidence. It can also be seen in cases where local excitability is increased due to chronic prostatitis or urethritis, or when the sensation of the glans is high due to phimosis, and treatment of the underlying disease may be necessary.

Treatments include surgery if phimosis is present, and the application of anesthetics to the glans has also been tried, but this has not been very effective. There have also been reports that sedatives and sympathetic nerve alpha-blockers are effective. After one ejaculation, the time until the second ejaculation is slightly extended. Sexual intercourse with the woman on top is also said to be effective. In recent years, behavioral therapy has been attracting attention. The method involves the woman stimulating the penis, stopping the stimulation as orgasm approaches, and resuming training when the feeling of ejaculation subsides. By repeating this process (the Masters method), the time until ejaculation is extended, which may seem inefficient but is the most effective treatment.

精液早漏の略称で、性交に際して女性がオーガズムに到達する以前に射精してしまうことをいう。男性の性機能障害のうちでもっとも多いものであるが、射精までの時間、また性交相手の女性がオーガズムに達する時間も種々であり、同一人でもときによって長短があるほどで、明確な定義がむずかしい。一般に、性交相手を満足させるだけの腟(ちつ)内挿入時間を保持することができずに射精してしまうものを早漏としている。

　早漏の大部分は心理的、精神的なもので、性交経験の積み重ねによって自然に治るものと考えてよい。自信を失うことによって二次的にインポテンスに進行することもあるので注意を要する。また、慢性の前立腺(せん)炎や尿道炎などで局所の興奮性が亢進(こうしん)している場合、包茎のため亀頭(きとう)の知覚が敏感になっている場合などにもみられ、原因疾患の治療が必要なこともある。

　治療としては、包茎があればその手術を行うほか、亀頭への麻酔剤塗布も試みられているがあまり効果は期待できない。このほか鎮静剤や交感神経α(アルファ)遮断剤が有効との報告もみられる。一度射精すると二度目の射精までの時間がすこし延長する。また女性上位での性交も有効とされている。近年は行動療法が注目されている。方法は、女性が陰茎を刺激し、オーガズムが近づいたところで刺激を中止し、射精しそうな感じがおさまったら訓練を再開し、これを繰り返し行うことにより射精までの時間の延長を図るもの（マスターズ法）で、能率が悪いようにみえるがもっとも有効な治療法である。
