Born: March 21, 1295 in Constance [Died] January 25, 1366. German mystic. His Latin name was Suso. After studying under J. Eckhart, the father of German mysticism, he joined the Dominican Order and became an itinerant preacher (c. 1335-48). He settled in Ulm around 1348. He preached the fusion of the soul and God, and believed that the human soul can find peace only in God. His main works include Das Büchlein der Wahrheit (The Book of Truth) (1327) and Das Büchlein der ewigen Weisheit (The Book of Eternal Wisdom) (1328).
