[Died] January 25, 1366.
German mystic. His Latin name was Suso. After studying under J. Eckhart, the father of German mysticism, he joined the Dominican Order and became an itinerant preacher (c. 1335-48). He settled in Ulm around 1348. He preached the fusion of the soul and God, and believed that the human soul can find peace only in God. His main works include Das Büchlein der Wahrheit (The Book of Truth) (1327) and Das Büchlein der ewigen Weisheit (The Book of Eternal Wisdom) (1328).

ドイツの神秘主義者。ラテン名でスーゾともいう。ドイツ神秘主義の祖 J.エックハルトに師事したのち，ドミニコ修道会に属し，巡回説教師となる (1335頃～48) 。 1348年頃ウルムに定住。魂と神との融合を説き，人間の魂は神のなかでのみ安らぎを得ると考えた。主著『真理の書』 Das Büchlein der Wahrheit (1327) ，『永遠なる知恵の書』 Das Büchlein der ewigen Weisheit (1328) など。
