The name of a god that appears in Japanese mythology. In the Kojiki, they are written as Izanagi and Izanami. In the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki myths, these two gods, male and female, performed almost all of the creative activities at the command of Amatsukami, and according to the Kojiki and one of the Nihon Shoki, they eventually came into conflict at the border with Yomi-no-Kuni, and were severed from each other, with the male god as the god in charge of human life and the female god as the god of the underworld in charge of human death. The two gods appeared at the end of the Seven Generations of the Gods, which developed genealogically as follows: the budding of reeds (the origin of the land) → a wilderness full of life → the appearance of beaches and rice paddies → a divine vessel → a male and female defensive god → the idea of fulfillment.
