Izanagi Shrine

Located in Taga, Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. The deities enshrined are Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto. Izanagi-no-Mikoto is said to have died in Awaji, and his secluded palace is said to be the main shrine. In 806 (Daido 1), the shrine was granted 13 households, and is listed as a Myojin Taisha in the Engishiki. At the end of the Heian period, the shrine became the Ichinomiya of Awaji Province, and was also called Ichinomiya Okami. It was revered by local residents, and in 1885 (Meiji 18) it was ranked as a Kanpei Taisha. At the time it was ranked, it was called Izanagi Shrine, but in 1954 (Showa 29) it was renamed Izanagi Jingu. The annual festival is held on April 21st and 22nd. Special Shinto ceremonies include the Kayura Festival on January 15th and the Rice Planting Festival on June 1st.

兵庫県淡路(あわじ)市多賀(たが)に鎮座。祭神は伊弉諾命(いざなぎのみこと)、伊弉冉命(いざなみのみこと)。伊弉諾命はこの淡路の地にて亡くなったと伝えられ、その幽宮が本社であるといわれている。806年（大同1）神封13戸を授けられ、『延喜式(えんぎしき)』では名神(みょうじん)大社に列している。平安末期には淡路国一宮となり、一宮大神とも称され、当地住民の崇敬を集め、1885年（明治18）官幣大社に列格した。列格当時は伊弉諾神社と称していたが、1954年（昭和29）伊弉諾神宮と改称した。例祭は4月21、22日。特殊神事として正月15日に粥占(かゆうら)祭、6月1日に御田植祭が行われる。
