〘Noun〙① Official duties of monks. Duties appointed by official letter in relation to various ceremonies and Buddhist rites, management of temples, etc. There are many such as Sanko, Kyoshi, Juzenshi, Zasu, Chori, Choja, etc. ② Duties determined by various temples and sects that are not public offices. Such as Dotatsu, Scribe, and Attendant. ③ Generally refers to the teacher or chief priest of a particular sect.
