A gas field located in the northern part of the West Siberian Lowland in Russia (Tyumen Region), just south of the Arctic Circle. Discovered in 1966, a pipeline has been completed linking it to Western Europe, and gas is exported to the European continent. It is the world's largest gas field, with recoverable reserves estimated at approximately 9.5 to 10 trillion cubic meters. The gas collection structure is huge, with a maximum length of 200 km and a width of 20 to 40 km, and a thick gas layer from the mid-Cretaceous period is distributed there. This gas is not only the result of decomposition of source rocks, but also includes biogenic gas produced by methane-decomposing bacteria.
