Congenital syphilis

Japanese: 先天性梅毒 - せんてんせいばいどく（英語表記）congenital syphilis

Syphilis is transmitted from the mother through the placenta in the womb (however, the mother is not necessarily infected while the fetus is pregnant). Symptoms are diverse and appear at different times, but they are broadly divided into early-onset and late-onset types. The former develops in infancy and is characterized by fever, rash, anemia, poor growth, and Parot's pseudoparalysis, while the late-onset type develops after toddlerhood and is characterized by interstitial keratitis, labyrinthine deafness, and Hutchinson's dentition (deformation of the upper front teeth). Currently, syphilis serology tests are performed during prenatal checkups, and congenital syphilis is diagnosed and treated, so the number of cases has decreased.

胎内で母親から胎盤を通して感染した梅毒(ただし母親の感染は，その胎児の妊娠中とは限らない)。症状は多彩であり，また症状の出る時期もさまざまであるが，早発型と遅発型に大別される。前者は乳児期に発症し，発熱，発疹，貧血，発育不良，パロー仮性麻痺などがみられ，また遅発型は幼児期以後に発症し，間質性角膜炎，迷路性聾，ハッチンソン歯(上前歯の変形)などがみられる。現在は妊婦検診で梅毒血清反応が行われることになっていて，診断･治療されるため，先天性梅毒は減った。
