...The language issue took the form of a conflict between those who advocated the revival of the ancient pure language and those who supported the everyday folk language, and the debate continues to this day, but as far as literature is concerned, it can be said that the victory of the folk language faction was assured. Solomos Dionýsios Solomós (1798-1857)'s "Hymne das Liberty" (1823) was a work that added sublime national content to the folk language and greatly raised national consciousness. This poem, written by the poet born on the island of Zakynthos at the age of 25, later became the national anthem, and he was called the national poet.
