Tsutomu Ouchi

1918－2009 An economist from the late Showa to Heisei eras.
Born June 19, 1918. His father was Ouchi Hyoe, a worker-farmer activist in Marxist economics. After working as an assistant professor at his alma mater, the University of Tokyo, he became a professor in 1960. He later became a professor at Shinshu University and Daito Bunka University. He became a member of the Japan Academy in 1982. He specialized in Marxist economics. He tried to explain agricultural issues from the standpoint of Uno theory, and also developed theories on state monopoly capitalism and the Japanese economy. He also served as a member of the Agricultural Policy Council and other organizations. He passed away on April 18, 2009. He was 90 years old. He was born in Tokyo. His works include "Agricultural Issues of Japanese Capitalism," "Agricultural Depression," and "The Japanese Economy."

大正7年6月19日生まれ。父はマルクス経済学労農派の大内兵衛(ひょうえ)。母校東大の助教授をへて,昭和35年教授。のち信州大,大東文化大教授。57年日本学士院会員。マルクス経済学を専攻。宇野理論の立場から農業問題の解明につとめ,また国家独占資本主義論や日本経済論を展開。農政審議会などの委員もつとめた。平成21年4月18日死去。90歳。東京出身。著作に「日本資本主義の農業問題」「農業恐慌」「日本経済論」など。
