Amphiphila

Japanese: Ammophila
Amphiphila

...Garden grasses are also grasses of the grass family, including turfgrass and Chinese turfgrass, as well as long grass, bluegrass, and rice grass in the north, and crabgrass and Japanese burrowing grass in the warmer regions. Weeping lovegrass, which was recently introduced to Japan, is used for erosion control and to retain soil in embankments, but other plants used abroad include beach grass ( Ammophila genus) from Europe and the United States, the similar North American genus Calamovilfa , the salt-tolerant North American Spartina , and quackgrass, which has naturalized in Hokkaido and other places. The trunks of bamboos are hollow and strong, so they are used in many ways, including in construction, as materials for crafts, for containers, and for bundling. Many bamboos are also used for blinds, like reeds, and for mats.
