Serovo culture

A Neolithic culture in the Baikal region of Russia. It is dated to the 3rd millennium BC. Many burial tombs from this culture have been discovered, including 18 sites in the Angara River basin between Irkutsk and Bratsk, and typical Serovo-style tombs are also found in the upper Lena River basin and the Selenga River basin on the eastern shore of Lake Baikal. Similar tombs have been found in the Angara River basin and the middle and lower Lena Rivers. After the body is buried in the pit, horizontal slabs of stone are laid out and stones are filled in up to the surface. Almost all are extended burials, and the majority of the heads face east or northeast. Most are individual graves. Grave goods include hunting equipment, fishing equipment, eating utensils, and tool-making tools, and it is believed that there was a belief in life after death. There are also two cases of cremation. A typical Cerobo tomb contains bows and arrows, pottery, polished slate or jade stone axes, polished slate knives, and stone arrowheads or diamond knives. The grave goods are the same for both men and women.

ロシア，沿バイカル地方の新石器文化の一つ。前3千年紀に位置づけられている。この文化期の埋葬墓が多数発見され，アンガラ川流域のイルクーツクからブラーツクの間では 18地点あり，レナ川上流域，バイカル湖東岸セレンガ川流域にも，典型的なセロボ式の墓が広がっている。さらに，類似する墓は，アンガラ川流域，レナ川中流，下流まで発見されている。墓壙には，遺体が埋葬されたのち，水平に板石が並べられ，表面まで石が詰められる。ほとんどすべて伸展葬であり，頭位方向は東ないし北東を示すものが過半数である。また，大部分が個人墓である。副葬品には，狩猟具，漁労具，食事用具，道具の製作具があり，死後の生活についての信仰があったと考えられている。ほかに火葬例が2例ある。典型的なセロボ式の墓には，弓矢，土器，磨製粘板岩製ないし軟玉製石斧，磨製粘板岩製ナイフ，石鏃ないし菱形ナイフが副葬されている。副葬品は，男女の性による違いがない。
