Akogiura, Seshu

Japanese: 勢州阿漕浦 - せいしゅうあこぎがうら

Bunraku puppet theater. Historical piece. One act (two scenes - Akogiura, Heiji's house). This work is the result of separating and renaming the fourth act of "Tamuramaro Suzuka Kassen," which premiered at the Toyotakeza Theater in Osaka in September 1741 (Kanpo 1). Traditionally, the name change and first performance date is thought to have been in January 1808 (Bunka 5), when it was performed at the Osaka Goryokyo Theater, but this work (with Hinatayu, Tsunatayu, and Yoshibei) was performed as an accompaniment to the Kyogen play "Gion Festival Faith Record," which was created at the Edo Tosa Theater in January 1798 (Kansei 10). In Kabuki, it was performed as "Ishoshu Akogiura" at the Kitagawa Theater in Kyoto in November 1830 (Tenpo 1).

人形浄瑠璃。時代物。1段(2場―阿漕浦，平次住家)。1741年(寛保1)9月大坂豊竹座初演の《田村麿鈴鹿合戦》四段目を独立させ改名した作。従来，改名･上演時期を1808年(文化5)正月大坂御霊境内芝居での上演とするが，早く1798年(寛政10)正月江戸土佐座で建てた狂言《祇園祭礼信仰記》の付け物として本作(雛太夫，綱太夫，吉兵衛)を上演。歌舞伎では《生州阿漕浦》として1830年(天保1)11月に京都の北側芝居で上演。
