The capital of the province of North Brabant in the Netherlands. It is also called Den Bosch for short. It has a population of 184,000 (1980). 90% of the inhabitants are Catholic. It is an industrial city with a focus on food processing, textiles, metalworking, woodworking, and pharmaceuticals. It is famous for its weekly livestock auction. It was established as a city around 1185, and developed into one of the four major cities of the Principality of Brabant.
