Born May 22, 1895. Served as military attaché in Italy and chief of the Second Department of the General Staff. In 1945, he became a lieutenant general. Immediately after Japan's defeat, he accepted the Allied occupation forces and also organized the Arisue Agency to provide information on the Soviet Union to GHQ. In 1970, he became chairman of the Japan Kyoyu Renmei, an organization for former military personnel. He passed away on February 14, 1992, at the age of 96.
