Mr. Hemi - Hemiuji

Japanese: 逸見氏 - へみうじ
Mr. Hemi - Hemiuji
A powerful clan in Kai during the Middle Ages. Also called "Henmiuji". The clan originated when Kai Genji Yoshikiyo's eldest son Kiyomitsu (1110-68) lived in Wakamiko, Hemi (present-day Suwa-machi, Yamanashi Prefecture) and called himself Hemi no Kanja, and his eldest son Mitsunaga adopted the surname Hemi. Mitsunaga followed Minamoto no Yoritomo in the Genpei War, and the Hemi clan became vassals of the shogunate. The Hemi clan continued to exert influence in Kai and fought against the Takeda clan, who were of the same clan. In 1416 (Oei 23), during the time of Arinao, when Takeda Nobumitsu was defeated and killed in the Uesugi Zenshu Rebellion, he tried to become Kai Shugo by allying himself with Ashikaga Mochiuji.
