Spicule
Also called needle-shaped bodies. A jet of high-temperature gas seen in the solar chromosphere. It is needle-shaped, 1,000 km in diameter and about 10,000 km long, and rises from the bottom of the chromosphere along the magnetic field lines at 20 to 30 km per second, penetrates into the corona, and then descends or disappears.
