The name of a beagle dog that appears in the popular American comic strip "Peanuts," which began serialization in newspapers in 1950 by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. Peanuts is the star shortstop on the undefeated baseball team coached by his master, a boy named Charlie Brown. He likes to sleep on top of his doghouse, can type, and has a little bird named Woodstock as his secretary. In 1969, it also became the nickname of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Apollo 10 lunar lander.
