The title of a kyogen piece. Tarokaja Kyogen. Tarokaja (shite) and Jirokanja are ordered by their master to go to the rice field at Kitsunezuka, where they are chasing a flock of birds while waving clappers. The master comes with sake to console them. However, the two, who have heard that there is an evil fox in the area, believe that the fox is an incarnation of a fox, and they press smoked green pine needles against its nose, demanding that it reveal its true identity. They then tie it up with a clapper rope, but when they realize that it is the real master, they run away. This is the story of the Okura school, but in the Izumi school, Tarokaja goes alone to chase the birds, and ties up the Jirokanja and his master who come to visit him one after another, and smokes them with pine needles, but the two undo the ropes and get their revenge. In the special Okura school production, "Koutairi," a long short song is inserted in the part where the birds are chased, making it similar to the Izumi school kyogen "Naruko." Kitsunezuka is a place name that remains in various places today, and is characterized by its rural, earthy atmosphere, with the crown prince's suspicious thoughts being a highlight.

狂言の曲名。太郎冠者(かじゃ)狂言。主人に命じられ狐塚の田へやってきた太郎冠者（シテ）と次郎冠者が鳴子(なるこ)を振って群がる鳥を追っているところへ、主人が酒を持って慰労にくる。ところが、付近に悪い狐が出ると聞いてきた2人は、狐の化身と思い込み、いぶした青松葉を鼻先に突きつけて正体を現せと迫り、さらに鳴子縄で縛りあげるが、真の主人とわかり逃げて行く。以上は大蔵流の筋で、和泉(いずみ)流では、1人で鳥追いに行った太郎冠者が順次に見舞いにくる次郎冠者と主人を次々に縛って松葉でいぶすが、縄を解いた2人に仕返しされる、という内容。大蔵流の特殊演出「小唄入(こうたいり)」では鳥を追う箇所に長い小歌が入り、和泉流狂言『鳴子』に似てくる。狐塚はいまも各地に残る地名で、農村的土臭さの漂うのが特色であり、冠者の疑心暗鬼が見どころ。
