This mosque is located at the southwest end of the Haram al-Sharif sanctuary in Jerusalem. Built during the Umayyad period, it has been remodeled and repaired many times since then, so only the arcades remain of the original structure, and its original appearance is unclear. The current mosque was rebuilt in 1345-50 (Mamluk period). Its overall structure is similar to that of the Umayyad Mosque, with side aisles centered around the mihrab, a dome in front of the mihrab, and columns parallel to the qibla wall.
