Located on the border between the United States and Canada, these canals are located on the St. Mary's River, connecting Lake Superior and Lake Huron. They are also called the Soo Canals. They were created by converting the rapids and falls of the river into canals. There are two canals, 2.5 km and 2.6 km long, on the American side, and one 2.2 km long on the Canadian side. They are part of the St. Lawrence Seaway, and are used to transport iron ore, grain, and lumber from ports on Lake Superior. The first canal on the American side was completed in 1855.

アメリカとカナダの国境に位置し，スペリオル湖とヒューロン湖を結ぶセント･メリーズ川にある運河。スー運河Soo Canalsとも呼ばれる。川の急流，滝の部分を運河化したもので，アメリカ側に2.5kmと2.6kmの運河が2本，カナダ側に2.2kmのものが1本ある。セント･ローレンス水路の一部で，スペリオル湖沿岸の港から積み出される鉄鉱石，穀物，木材の運搬に利用されている。最初の運河はアメリカ側のもので1855年に完成した。
