Emperor Sushun

According to the genealogy of the imperial family in the Kojiki and Nihon shoki, he was the 32nd emperor. He was the son of Emperor Kinmei, and his mother was Koane no Kimi (the daughter of Soga no Iname). He is also called Emperor Hatsusebe (Nihon Shoki), Emperor Hasebe Wakasazaki (Kojiki), and Emperor Kurahashi (Ho-o Tei-setsu). It is said that he lived in Kurahashi (Kurahashi, Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture), and during his reign, the monk Eso and others came from Baekje, as well as temple carpenters, a roban doctor, a tile doctor, and painters. The Soga clan also began construction of Hōkō-ji Temple in 588 (the 1st year of the reign of Emperor Sushun). In 591, he gathered a large army in northern Kyushu in response to the changing situation on the Korean Peninsula, but in November 592, Soga no Umako ordered Yamato no Ayanoataikoma to assassinate the Emperor. His tomb is in Kurahashi no Oka no Ue Mausoleum (Kurahashi, Sakurai City).

記紀の皇室系譜では第32代の天皇。欽明(きんめい)天皇の皇子で、母は小姉君(こあねのきみ)（蘇我稲目(そがのいなめ)の娘）。泊瀬部(はつせべ)天皇（『日本書紀』）、長谷部若雀(はつせべわかさざき)天皇（『古事記』）、倉橋(くらはし)天皇（『法王帝説』）ともよぶ。倉梯(くらはし)（奈良県桜井市倉橋）に宮居したと伝え、この天皇の代に百済(くだら)から僧恵総(えそう)らが渡来し、また寺工、鑪盤博士(ろばんはかせ)、瓦(かわら)博士、画工らが来朝した。また蘇我氏は法興寺を588年（崇峻天皇1）に造営し始めたという。591年、朝鮮半島の情勢変化に対応しようとして北九州に大軍を集結させたが、592年11月、蘇我馬子(うまこ)は東漢直駒(やまとのあやのあたいこま)に命じて天皇を暗殺させた。陵墓は倉梯岡上(くらはしのおかのうえ)陵（桜井市倉橋）とする。
