…A structure found in angiosperms in which the pistil becomes a pouch-like structure and contains the ovule, which becomes a fruit when ripe. The ovule is contained in a locule surrounded by an ovary wall, and is isolated from the outside world, preventing the ovule from being directly attacked by disease or insects (Figure 1).
