Suifenhe
A county-level city on the Sino-Russian border in northeastern China's Heilongjiang Province. Population 35,000 (1994). End of the Harbin-Suijin Railway (Harbin-Suifanhe). Separated from Dongning County in 1975 and incorporated as a city. A newly industrialized city with factories for textiles, liquor, building materials, food, etc. Formerly a border station on the railway leading to Vladivostok via the East China Railway, no international trains run through it now. However, since perestroika, border trade with Russia has become active at the local level. The Suifen River originates in Panling in northeastern Jilin Province, flows north into Heilongjiang Province, joins the Little Suifen River at Daohe, flows east north of Dongning County, enters Russian territory, and enters the Sea of ​​Japan.
