〘 noun 〙 (also "obiroma") 1. A particularly large hall made for a large gathering. ※Banshu Sayo Gunki (around 1658-61), part 2, "Masanobu was drawn into the great hall." 2. A hall in Edo Castle filled with people of the fourth rank or higher, such as kunimochi daimyo and tozama daimyo, on ceremonial days. ※Zappai, Yanagi Taru-102 (1828), "A large hall filled with only people from one province."
