A prestigious company in the textile machinery industry, Toyota is the head office of the Toyota Group. Its headquarters are in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture. It was established in November 1926 in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture, with the aim of manufacturing the automatic looms that Sakichi Toyoda invented in March of the same year. The performance of the company's automatic looms was widely recognized internationally, and they were widely exported, mainly to Asia, from the early Showa period. Sakichi Toyoda had an early interest in automobile manufacturing, and his son Kiichiro Toyoda was also enthusiastic about domestic automobile production as a new business. Therefore, automobile research began at the company's factory around 1955, and the automobile department was established in 1958, and the first passenger car (A1 type) was completed in 1960.

繊維機械業界の名門企業で，トヨタ･グループの本家にあたる会社。本社愛知県刈谷市。1926年11月，豊田佐吉が同年3月に発明した自動織機の製造を目的として，愛知県刈谷に設立された。同社の自動織機の性能は国際的にも広く認められ，昭和の初期からアジア地域を中心に広く輸出された。豊田佐吉は自動車の製造にも早くから関心をもっており，息子の豊田喜一郎も新事業として自動車国産化への熱意をもっていた。そこで30年ころから同社の工場で自動車の研究が進められ，33年に自動車部が設置され，35年乗用車第1号(A1型)が完成した。
