The Kojiki and Nihon Shoki record him as the 11th emperor. Emperor Ikumenirihiko Isasakaya, whose capital was said to be Tamaki Palace in Miwa, Yamato. He was the third son of Emperor Sujin, and his mother was Mimashirohime, the daughter of Ohiko no Mikoto. He was the father of Emperor Keikō. There are many stories related to this emperor, but the most famous are those about the empress Sahohime and her brother Sahohiko, and the story about his son Homutsuwake no Mikoto. The empress Sahohime was ordered by her brother to kill the emperor, but was unable to do so and told the emperor about the situation. When the emperor prepared his troops and tried to burn Sahohiko to death, the empress ran to her brother and they were both burned to death. Homutsuwake, the child of the empress, was unable to speak even when he reached adulthood, but was cured by the emperor's efforts. There are also several other events related to rituals that are said to have happened during the reign of this emperor, but all of these stories have a strong mythological element and are not very realistic.
