Qinling

Japanese: 秦嶺 - しんれい

A mountain range that runs east-west across central China. It forms the watershed of the Wei River, Huai River, Han River, and Jialing River, and is the geographic border that divides China into north and south. In the broad sense, the Qinling Mountains is a general term for the mountain range that stretches from Gansu and Qinghai Provinces to central Henan Province, while in the narrow sense, the Qinling Mountains refers to the mountain range that runs through Shaanxi Province. The main peak, Mount Taibai, is 3,767 meters above sea level. It is known for being the world's only natural breeding ground for Japanese crested ibises, located in the mountains of Yang County, Shaanxi Province, on the south side of the mountain range.

中国中部を東西方向に横断する山脈。渭水，淮河，漢水，嘉陵江の分水嶺を形成し，地理的に中国を南北に分ける境界線となっている。広義の秦嶺は甘粛・青海両省から河南省中部にいたる一連の山系の総称で，狭義の秦嶺は陝西省内を走る山系を指す。主峰の太白山は標高3767m。南面の陝西省洋県の山中に世界唯一のトキの自然繁殖地があることで知られる。
