…Seokguksa Temple is located on the top of Tohamsan Mountain behind Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It is said to have been built by Prime Minister Kim Daeseong in the 10th year of King Gyeongdeok of Silla (751) as an auxiliary cave for Bulguksa Temple. The cave was built by piling up granite rocks against a natural boulder, and the interior consists of three rooms: the antechamber, the main hall, and the main hall.

It was founded during the reign of King Beopheung of Silla (reigned 514-540), and is said to have been greatly expanded in the 10th year of the reign of Queen Gyeongdeok (751) at the request of Prime Minister Kim Daeseong. The temple is divided into two parts, east and west, at the foot of Mount Toham. The eastern part, centered on the main hall, has a Tabotapagoda and a Sekga Pagoda on the left and right in front of the main hall, and is surrounded by corridors on all four sides.
