New Youth - Xin-qing-nian (English spelling)

New Youth - Xin-qing-nian (English spelling)
A Chinese monthly general magazine. First published in September 1915. Published quarterly from 1923. Discontinued in July 1926. Presided over by Chen Duxiu, it advocated modern rationalism and was originally called "Youth Magazine," but in September 1941 it was renamed "New Youth." From 1948, Chen Duxiu, Li Daxiu, Hu Shi, and Qian Xuantong were co-editors or took turns. From this time on, it gradually took on a Marxist color, and in May 1949, it published a special issue on Marxism. During that time, right-wingers such as Hu Shi were excluded, and it became almost the organ of the Chinese Communist Party around the time of its formation. In the early days, it played a leading role in the literary revolution by publishing Hu Shi's "Rumination on Literary Reform," Chen Duxiu's "On Literary Revolution," and Lu Xun's "Diary of a Madman." In the later years, it became a forum for the introduction and study of Marxist theory, with Li Daxiu as its representative, and had a great influence on modern Chinese thought and culture.

New Youth

A detective novel magazine launched by Hakubunkan in January 1920. At first it was just a magazine for young people, but thanks to the wise decision of editor-in-chief Morishita Uson, it introduced masterpieces of detective novels from overseas and used Edogawa Ranpo, Kozakai Fuki, Yokomizo Seishi, Kakuta Kikuo, Umino Juzo, Oguri Mushutaro, and Kikuchi Kotaro, helping to usher in the golden age of detective novels before World War II. It continued to be published after the war under a different publisher, but ceased publication with the July 1950 issue.
