A town in Kumage County in southeastern Yamaguchi Prefecture. The Sanyo Main Line runs through the town. Rice, burdock, Chinese yam, and peaches are cultivated mainly in the lowlands of the Tabuse River basin and on the reclaimed land along Hirao Bay. Kuruma shrimp are farmed on Uma Island off the coast. In recent years, efforts have been made to attract businesses. 50.42 km2 . Population: 15,986 (2010).
