This is a cloud seen when a developed cumulonimbus cloud is in the weakening stage. It is so named because the top of the cumulonimbus cloud is shaped like an anvil. The cloud top has developed and reaches near the tropopause, and the strong winds in this area cause the cloud near the top to be blown horizontally, forming an anvil shape. 発達した積乱雲の衰弱期に見られる雲。積乱雲の頭部がかなとこ（鉄床）のような形をしているためこのように呼ばれる。雲頂は発達して圏界面付近まで達しており，この付近の強い風のため頂上付近の雲が水平に流されてかなとこ型になる。
