Xin Yue-fu (English spelling)

Japanese: 新楽府 - しんがふ（英語表記）Xin yue-fu

A style of classical Chinese poetry. It has two meanings: (1) poems with the new theme of Yuefu created after the Tang dynasty, and (2) the 50 pieces of "Xin Yuefu" by Bai Juyi of the mid-Tang dynasty and satirical poems of a similar nature. Yuefu, which was named after the name of an office established by Emperor Wu of Han, continued to be created in large numbers even during the Tang dynasty, and many works with new themes were created. (1) refers to all of them. However, since Bai Juyi named the 50 pieces "Xin Yuefu" because he believed that the original role of the Yuefu was to speak for the people and criticize politics, the term "Xin Yuefu" has come to be limited to works by Bai Juyi or works with a similar theme. This is (2). Works that fall into (1) but not (2) are sometimes distinguished by being called "modern quci."

中国，古典詩の様式の一つ。 (1) 唐代以後につくられた新しい楽府題の詩，(2) 中唐の白居易の『新楽府』 50編および同様の性格をもつ諷諭詩の2通りの意味をもつ。漢の武帝がつくった役所の名が，そのまま詩のジャンル名となった楽府は，唐代に入っても盛んにつくられ，また新しい題による作品も多く生れた。それらをすべてさすのが (1) の場合である。しかし白居易が民衆の声を代弁して政治批判をするのが楽府本来のあり方だとして創作した 50編を「新楽府」と名づけて以来，「新楽府」とは白居易の作品あるいは同様趣旨のものに限定された名称ともなった。これが (2) である。 (1) であって (2) でない作品を「近代曲辞」と呼んで区別することもある。
