〘Noun〙 The name of the main hall of Chukaiin in the Heian Daidairi Palace. It is where the Emperor worships the gods. The Emperor would visit here on occasions such as Jinkonjiki and Niiname-sai, and religious ceremonies would be held here. In the current Imperial Palace, it was built facing south to the west of the Imperial Ancestors' Hall, and is the building used for the Niiname-sai. 〘名〙 平安大内裏の中和院(ちゅうかいん)の正殿の称。天皇が神をまつるところ。神今食(じんこんじき)、新嘗祭などのときに行幸して神事が行なわれた。現在の皇居では皇霊殿の西に南面して建てられており、新嘗祭の時に用いる殿舎で、その時はこの殿上で御遙拝があり、四方拝をその南庭で行なう。※類聚国史‐九・新嘗祭・天長七年(830)一一月辛卯「天皇御二神嘉殿一。以申二如在一」
