...The reproductive season is from June to July. In Japan, other species include the long-tailed amphioxus Asymmetron lucayanum ( Epigonichthys lucayanus ) from Okinawa, and the long-tailed amphioxus A. maldivense from Tanegashima, Shirahama and Kushimoto in Wakayama Prefecture. In Xiamen, China, it is seasoned, dried, and processed into a snack for the masses, and is sold commercially.
