Shiryo

Chinese female lawyer and politician. Born in Jiangsu Province. Opened a law practice in Shanghai. After the Manchurian Incident, she was active as a leader of the National All-Club Salvation Association and worked for the anti-Japanese national united front. In November 1936, she was arrested by the Nationalist government as one of the Seven Gentlemen of the Anti-Japanese War, and was imprisoned in Suzhou until the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War. During the war, she was in Chongqing, where she cooperated with Song Chingling and Deng Yingchao, and also worked hard to establish the China Democratic League. In 1949, she participated in the National People's Political Consultative Conference in Beijing, and was appointed Minister of Justice of the Executive Council after the founding of the People's Republic of China. She later became Standing Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress, Vice Chairman of the All-China Women's Federation, and Chairman of the China Democratic League. She died in September 1985 at the age of 85.

中国の女性弁護士、政治家。江蘇(こうそ)省出身。上海(シャンハイ)で弁護士を開業。満州事変以後、全国各界救国会連合会の指導者として、抗日民族統一戦線の立場で活動。1936年11月、抗日七君子の一人として国民政府に逮捕され、日中戦争勃発(ぼっぱつ)後まで蘇州(そしゅう)で投獄されていた。抗戦中は重慶(じゅうけい)におり、宋慶齢(そうけいれい)、鄧穎超(とうえいちょう)らと協力、また中国民主同盟の結成にも尽力した。1949年、北京(ペキン)で全国人民政治協商会議に参加、中華人民共和国成立とともに政務院司法部長に就任、その後、全国人民代表大会常務副委員長、全国婦女連合会副主席、中国民主同盟主席となり、1985年9月、85歳で死去した。
