〘名〙① 梅谷渋(うめやしぶ)で染めたもの。二、三回染めたものを赤梅、たびたび染めて黒ずんでいるのを黒梅という。室町頃から行なわれたものらしく媒染剤にはミョウバン、灰汁、鉄漿(てっしょう)、石灰などが用いられ茶系統の濃淡種々の色相が得られる。※満済准后日記‐永享三年(1431)正月七日「四辻宰相中将来、梅染一重献之」② =うめがさね(梅襲)
