A general term for entertainers in medieval France. They traveled around town squares and castles, singing stories and songs, and performing acrobatics. After the appearance of lyric songs by the troubadours and troubadours, they played the role of singing and disseminating these songs to musical accompaniment, and they flourished most in the 13th century.
