The journal that led the German Expressionist movement in terms of art theory. The name means "storm." It was first published in Berlin in March 1910 by music and art critic Herbart Walden as a "weekly magazine for culture and art." It became a monthly magazine in 1916. It effectively introduced a wide range of avant-garde trends, including art, music, literature, and performing arts, in its large pages. Along with domestic trends, it also covered and defended cutting-edge issues of the time, such as Futurism, Cubism, Surrealism, Dada, and even the art trends of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe after the revolution. It is also noteworthy for its introduction of A. Stram in the field of "language arts." It was also active in exhibitions, readings, experimental theater, and publishing, and a woodblock print exhibition was held in Tokyo in March 1914. It ceased publication with its final issue in June 1932, the year before the Nazi regime was established.
