Mid-Indian Ridge

Japanese: インド洋中央海嶺 - インドようちゅうおうかいれい（英語表記）Mid-Indian Ridge

A ridge that runs in an inverted Y shape through the center of the Indian Ocean. It is part of the mid-ocean ridge that encircles the Earth along the ocean's midline. The southeastern one goes around the southern tip of Australia and becomes the East Pacific Rise, the southwestern one connects to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, and the northern one extends to the Gulf of Aden. The Palestinian Rift and the East African Rift that branches off from the Gulf of Aden and descends south are extensions of the Central Indian Ocean Ridge, and are noteworthy as mid-ocean ridge systems found on land.
