A monk from the Three Kingdoms period in China. Date of birth and death unknown. The first Chinese monk to become a monk and the first to seek the Dharma. A native of Yingchuan (Xuchang County, Henan Province). He received ordination in Luoyang and lectured on the "Tao-gyo Prajnaparamita Sutra" translated by Shirukasen, but was dissatisfied with not being able to understand the meaning of the text. In 260, he set off for India in search of a complete edition, and on the way he obtained the original in Khotan (Yuma) and had his disciple Furutan bring it back. In 291, Zhu Shulan and others translated it into Chinese as the "Radiant Light Prajnaparamita Sutra," but he himself died in Khotan at the age of 80.
