A finishing method that adds new properties to textile products by using initial condensation products of thermosetting resins and cellulose-reactive resins. The properties in question are shrink-resistance and wrinkle-resistance to textiles. Using urea resin, reactive resin, etc., the textile is impregnated with an aqueous solution of the processing agent, pre-dried, and then cured (heat-treated) at high temperature for a short period of time to generate resin inside the textile. The resin processing used to be formaldehyde-based, but it has been switched to non-formaldehyde resins because it can cause skin problems. Textiles that have been processed in this way do not wrinkle even after washing, so they are labeled as wash-and-wear, which means they can be worn immediately without ironing, and permanent press, which means they retain their pleats for a long time.
