Striae - Myakuri
Also called "streaks." A type of defect in glass products, these are inhomogeneous parts that appear in the glass as thin lines, stripes, or bands. They are caused by insufficient mixing of the raw materials, failure to adjust the melting temperature, erosion of the refractory material, and uneven cooling during annealing. Streaks have a different refractive index and expansion coefficient from the parent glass, and are a serious defect in optical glass.

〈すじ〉とも。ガラス製品の欠陥の一種で，細線状，縞(しま)状，帯状などとなってガラス中に存在する不均質な部分。原料の混合不足，溶融温度調整の失敗，耐火物の侵食，徐冷時の不均等冷却などが原因。脈理部分は母体ガラスと屈折率，膨張率などが異なり，光学ガラスでは重大な欠点となる。
