A method of concentrating and continuing the trial of one case. It is also called continuing trial. It is opposed to concurrent trials, in which multiple cases are tried at the same time. Concentrated trials have the advantage of shortening the trial period for a case, which helps to expedite litigation, but they also have the disadvantage of delaying the start of trials for other cases. Although the current law adopts the principle of concentrated trials (Civil Procedure Rules, Article 27; Criminal Procedure Rules, Article 179-2), various obstacles exist, and concurrent trials are the predominant approach in practice.
