A book on waka poetry from the late Heian period. It has 20 volumes and was written by Kensho. The first draft is called Kenpisho. The selected edition was completed around 1187. For each difficult word, the author gives the poem that it is based on, first presents his own theory, and then quotes and critiques other theories. Quotations range from anthologies, family anthologies, and uta-awase (poetry contests) to waka poetry books such as Ougisho, Toshiyori Zuinou, Kigosho, and Waka Domonsho, as well as historical texts such as the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, and Buddhist scriptures, and are quoted from over a hundred sources. A representative work of waka poetry from the Rokujo family. It has been widely used in later generations because it corrects errors in previous waka poetry books and provides detailed explanations of the meanings of words.
