Francis Jeanson

French philosopher. He was an admirer of Sartre and became a prominent writer for Les Temps Modernes, a magazine edited by Sartre. He has written several books on Sartre and studies on phenomenology. When the Algerian War of Independence (1954-1962) began, he immediately and openly supported the independence movement through his writings, and later created an underground organization to actively support deserters from the French army, and his actions caused a stir overseas.

フランスの哲学者。サルトルに傾倒し、彼の主宰する雑誌『レ・タン・モデルヌ』の有力な書き手となる。数冊のサルトル論、現象学の研究などがある。アルジェリア独立戦争（1954～1962）が始まると、ただちに著述を通して公然と独立運動を支持し、のちには地下組織をつくってフランス軍隊からの脱走兵を積極的に援助するなど、その行動は広く海外にも反響をよんだ。
